Mix 2 ounces Aloe vera liquid, 1 ounce food grade vegetable glycerine, and 24 ml of distilled water, then add 6 ml Calendula mother tincture 1x. Shake well to combine ingredients. Keep refrigerated when possible. Shake bottle before each use. Label and date the contents of the bottle. Makes a 4 ounce medicinal lotion, containing 5% calendula mother tincture 1x. For external use only. This can be used on open wounds.

Veterinary Uses:

Anti-inflammatory, Vulnerary (wound healing), and Anti-fungalProperties

Burns/scalds (second degree): Use Calendula lotion for the later stages of a burn once the pain has passed. Calendula will promote new skin growth and is especially useful where blisters have broken. This lotion will also provide pain relief for sunburns.

Cuts/wounds: Helps to prevent infection & encourage healing. Spray on minor cuts, skin irritations and insect bites. Bandage if necessary. For serious wounds apply lotion on a piece of gauze and keep in place. Use a spritzing or spray bottle containing the lotion to keep the dressing damp but don’t remove the dressing until the bleeding has stopped and healing is well under way.

Calendula is naturally protective and gentle enough for sensitive and damaged skin. Gentler than chemical cleansers which may cause further trauma and delay healing. Calendula heals and soothes and is anti-microbial. Does not sting. Safe to use on children and pets. Once a deeper wound is beginning to heal, you can apply the calendula spray to help speed the recovery. There are few things worse than the pain of trying to rub an ointment onto a cut, scrape or burn. Rather than touch the skin when it is most sensitive, use Calendula ‘spray’ to apply it to the affected area. Calendula is a top skin healer due to the fact that Marigold is high in antioxidants.

Warning: Calendula helps the layers of the skin (the epithelium) to ‘knit’ back together and will mend a clean wound in a matter of hours. It heals so rapidly that it can seal dirt into the body, so always clean the wound very carefully before applying Calendula. Never use Calendula on an abscessed wound unless it has completely drained and is ready to close.
